“Join us” on Energy Day of Action

April 1st protesters say rising costs are no joke

Reading time: 5 min

Unite Community activists from across the country are planning events as part of the the unions forthcoming nationwide Day of Action over the energy price hike – and they would love to see you join them on the streets.

Unite branches are organising events in every corner of the UK to highlight the impact of the rising cost of energy on communities, with most events happening on Tuesday (1 April).

Unite Community and Unite Retired Members Branches are organising protests in response to OFGEM’s 6.4% price hike on 1st April, and demanding energy production and supply returns to public ownership.

Matt Hannam is Regional Community Coordinator and is encouraging all Unite members to support their local protest.

Matt said, “Join us. From Cambourne to Carlise and Edinburgh to Eastbourne there will be street stalls, leafleting, banner drops, die-ins, demonstrations. Get involved, get along and support the protests in your locality.”

Protests are happening in the following towns and cities, and more are being planned every day so check back if there is nothing near you.
