'Absolute national scandal'

Unite national officer for hospitality Dave Turnbull sent a loud and clear message after Wetherspoons CEO Tim Martin called for more workers from the EU to tackle massive staff shortages now facing the UK’s hospitality industry.

Turnbull lambasted Martin and hospitality bosses as a whole for failing to respect the sector’s workforce throughout and before the pandemic.

“You need to pay staff a living wage and treat staff fairly and they will work for you,” he said.
