Unite hosted its first ever Black History Month awards gala on Tuesday (October 24) in Birmingham. The event drew more than a hundred of Unite’s BAEM reps and activists and paid tribute to their vital contributions to the trade union movement.

Addressing guests in her speech, Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said, “What’s taken us so long to come here and celebrate our BAEM reps and activists? [Thank you for] the confidence you have given workers, for standing tall when you were tested, for putting money back into workers’ pockets and for showing where the real power of the union is – in people like you.”

You can view highlights from the awards gala in the photos below – and stay tuned on UniteLive for a full report on the event soon.
