Energy Rip-Off disgrace
Unite GS tells Labour “Renationalise our energy!”

Unite has been on the streets of Liverpool during this week’s Labour Party Conference to call on the government to bring energy back into public hands.
The union demanded an end to the “Energy Rip-Off” and for a renationalisation of energy companies.
In the UK around 12 million households are living in energy poverty, with two fifths struggling with their energy bills, and winter is coming.
However, by 2024, 20 energy companies had made £457 billion in profits since the start of the energy bills crisis.
Unite activists gathered with a clear message for the Labour Party that it’s time to end the chaos in our energy network which allows profiteers to flourish while workers and communities are left in the cold.
During a speech to Conference Unite General Secretary Sharon Graham reinforced Unite’s position, pointing that “everyday people always pay” and to cheers said, “Instead of letting energy prices spiral out of control. Renationalise our energy.”
Last April Unite groups across the country held a day of action as part of the ongoing Unite Energy 4 All campaign, which received a fantastic response from the public.
In Liverpool today Unite said there is a choice and made its position clear. We need our energy back in public hands – before the profiteer barons take the lot.
The question is will The Labour Party make the right choice?
