Join the crowds at the Orgreave Anniversary March and Rally

Unite is encouraging people to head to Sheffield next month and join the crowds at this year’s Orgreave Anniversary March and Rally.
The event, organised by the Orgreave Truth and Justice Campaign, commemorates the 42nd anniversary of the police riot at Orgreave, and celebrates the great Miners’ Strike of 1984/5.
The march and rally takes place on Saturday 13th June 2026, with banners and marchers assembling at Sheffield City Hall at 12.30pm for a 1.00pm start.
Since last year’s anniversary rally, an Orgreave Inquiry was announced in July 2025 and launched in March 2026, and campaigners are now making sure the inquiry delivers the truth and justice that is so long overdue.
Organisers said, “Please bring along your banners, placards, family, comrades and friends and march with us through Sheffield and support our call for an inquiry for truth and justice for striking miners brutalised by the state at the Orgreave Coking plant on 18 June 1984.”
As well as a colourful march through the streets of Sheffield the day is packed full of music and speakers. Speakers include:
- Donna McLean – SpyCops Survivor, Writer and Activist (Police Spies Out Of Lives)
- Pete Weatherby KC – Justice Campaigner
- Andrea Egan – UNISON General Secretary
- Gaz Jackson – RMT Regional Organiser, Yorkshire and Lincolnshire
- Sara Choonara – Grassroots Footballer and Community Activist
- John Dunn – ex-miner, Orgreave Truth and Justice Campaign
Inspiring music and songs come from musician, writer and activist Joe Solo, along with the UNITE Brass Band, who were named 2025 Yorkshire Regional Champions, and the PCS Samba Band, while Chris Peace and Joe Rollin from the Orgreave Truth and Justice Campaign will be comparing the day.
Vos Baker, Unite the Union Brass Band Secretary, said, “Unite the Union Band is delighted to have been invited to play at the march and rally for the Orgreave Truth and Justice Campaign in what will be the 42nd anniversary of the 18 June police riot at Orgreave.”
