Steelworkers, residents, local councillors and activists were out in full force in Port Talbot for Unite’s latest steel campaign event on Thursday (February 1) to send a loud and clear message that UK steel jobs were ‘not for sale’.

More than 200 ‘Not for Sale’ signs were erected in front gardens in a number of streets in the town, to show the strength of the community’s opposition to the plans put forward by Tata Steel and the government to close the steelworks’ blast furnaces, resulting in the loss of more than 2,800 jobs.

You can view highlights from the event in photos below, and stay tuned on UniteLive for full coverage of the event in Port Talbot, as well as coverage of a linked steel campaign event in Scunthorpe.
