'Open the toilets to frontline workers'

World Toilet Day: Unite national officer Bobby Morton calls on the government to ensure toilet access for all frontline workers

Reading time: 2 min

On World Toilet Day today (November 19), Unite continued to push its long-running toilet dignity campaign, calling for all workers to have access to sanitation facilities.

A new Unite survey published today of thousands of its driver members, mostly employed driving buses or lorries, found that during lockdown, less than one in five reported that they continued to have adequate access to toilet and washing facilities at all times.

In the clip below, Unite national officer for passenger transport Bobby Morton highlights why the government should stay true to its ‘hands, face, space’ mantra and ensure that all workers — many of whom are on the frontline amid the pandemic such as bus drivers — have access to toilets.
