Strikes planned at Quorn’s Teesside meat-free paste production factory have been cancelled after staff voted to accept an ‘excellent’ pay offer from the company.
More than 60 production workers, including lab, maintenance, electricians and stores staff at the Billingham factory of Marlow Foods Limited, which trades under Quorn Foods, will benefit from the deal.
The deal includes a 2 per cent pay rise backdated to June 2020 and an increase of retail price index (RPI) plus 1 per cent from June 2021 to May 2022.
The deal also includes an increase from 13 weeks to 26 weeks for sick pay and a rise in staff retirement bonuses.
Unite regional officer Fazia Hussain-Brown said, “This excellent deal is testament to the hard work of Unite’s workplace representatives and the company.
“We look forward to working productively with the company as it goes from strength to strength in the future.
“This pay deal shows the kinds of benefits being in a trade union brings and is a prime example of why workers should join Unite.”
