Unite celebrates “committed Unite reps and activists”

On Friday night (Oct 25) Unite Equalities hosted the 2nd Unite National Black History Month Gala Awards which celebrated all the hard work from BAEM members and allyship to the BAEM community.

After the success of last year’s event the return of the Gala was never in doubt and hundreds of Unite reps, activists and officers gathered in Birmingham to recognise the fantastic work that the union has been doing over the last year.

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham attended the awards and said: “It was amazing to meet so many committed Unite reps and activists.

“Unite is committed to fighting for equality in the workplace, putting equality issues front and centre at the bargaining table.”

The night was a dynamic celebration night with presentations and a gala dinner followed by a speech from guest historian Paul Obinna.
