Unite, the union representing staff at Lloyds Banking Group (LBG) has today (June 13) confirmed that staff across the bank will be awarded a £1,000 bonus to help them to deal with the cost of living crisis.
Following a campaign by members of Unite the bank has conceded that many low paid employees are struggling with the rising costs of food, fuel and heating.
In March Unite members voted to reject the LBG 2022 pay offer and have since been campaigning for significant changes to the pay system at the bank. This campaign included a demonstration at the organisations AGM in May.
Sharon Graham, Unite General Secretary said, “Unite members’ collective action has put desperately needed money into the pockets of staff on the front line.
“This victory for Unite’s LBG pay campaign is an important step in changing the bank’s pay structures. Staff will welcome the £1,000 bonus but there is still a long way to go to eradicate low pay in that is one of the economy’s most profitable sectors.”
Staff in grades A – G will be paid the £1,000 bonus in August.
Unite is dedicated to advancing the jobs, pay and conditions of its members and will fight back against any efforts to diminish workers’ living standards.
