“What in the World is Happening to Women?”

Unite is holding a Women’s Development Day in Leeds that will be packed full of workshops and speakers, as well as the chance to share ideas and experiences with fellow Unite women and learn about opportunities for women’s development and voices within Unite.

The event “What in the World is Happening to Women?” is being held on Friday 7th March to link in with International Women’s Day on the 8th, a global day for celebrating inspiring women, reflecting on the challenges women face, and coming together to make change.

Unite North East Yorkshire and Humber is organising the event and have secured keynote speaker Randie Pearson from the United Steelworkers Union in the USA to talk about the realities of life as a woman and a trade unionist in Trump’s America.

There will also be workshops, including:

  • Women and the law in 2025 from Thompsons Solicitors,
  • Organising against sexual harassment in the workplace,
  • Taking women’s health and safety seriously wth Janet Newsom from the Hazards Campaign

The event will also host the launch of the new Unite NEYH Women’s Network and is open to all women Unite members in North East, Yorkshire and Humber – activists, branch officers, workplace reps and interested members. Lunch will be provided, and travel costs reimbursed.

The Unite Development Day for women members is being held on Friday 7th March at the Unite Regional Office in Leeds from 10.30am to 3.30pmNumbers are limited and filling up fast, so booking must be made in advance on the event link.
