'Don't settle for it - join Unite!'
London construction activists back on the streets with BuildingWorker
Reading time: 2 min
The Unite London Building Workers branch were back on the streets to talk to workers and hand out copies of the latest BuildingWorker last week.
This time, branch officers and activists were in the City of London highlighting issues around Erith Group and its refusal to allow union reps on their site.
Declan Murphy was part of the team talking to workers and handing out copies of Unite’s leading journal for construction workers.
Declan said, “Erith is still not allowing us access, despite being a National Federation of Demolition Contractors (NFDC) member and claiming to align themselves with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. But we are quite sure that will change soon though.
“We are receiving more reports of agency overuse and extortionate payroll companies. Our message to workers at Erith is ‘Don’t settle for it – join Unite!’”
