WSP strike enters third week
“Struggling” textile workers want to be “treated fairly”

Textile workers from Gloucestershire have spoken about why they are continuing to take strike action against a world famous employer who refuses to pay them properly for the skilled jobs they do.
Striking tennis ball and snooker cloth makers are now in their third week of industrial action, in a dispute over pay that could result in shortages at tournaments.
The skilled workers at sports cloth manufacturer WSP Textiles in Stroud and Dursley, Gloucestershire have been forced to take action over a pay rise that will see most of them earning little more than the minimum wage, despite producing some of the most famous sporting cloth in the world.
Unite South West regional secretary Steve Preddy said, “WSP are hugely profitable. The workers, all committed and loyal to the business, have had no choice but to stand and fight.
“Unite will support our members for as long as it takes. We will fight with these brave workers until they secure a fair and respectable pay increase!”
